Week 13 Matt Nurre's Presentation

Matt. great clip for Storm Over Asia. Apt commentary, I like how you did sort of a play by play while the clip was playing. Would be good to sharpen the differences between Pudovkin and Eisenstein (linkage vs. collision montage) and even contrast that with the Patriot clip. At one point you said, "Kuleshov was more conservative" and I meant to ask you what you meant by that...
if you'd care to elaborate....
well done.

Yeah, even though we learned a lot about these guys in class you did not get repetitive. There is a lot of information on these guys it seems and you picked out the most important facts to showcase their works. The clips you chose to show also were a great selection. You understood exactly where in the clips to comment and it was easy to tell you knew these guys styles front to back. I may have liked to see an exceprt from one of their writings and maybe a photo, but you picked the most important aspects to talk about.

It was really amazing to see what people could do with technology. Early on, to show lots of different people in a scene like that, they would have to hire all those individual people. Now they just do that over a weekend. It was very impressive and you were well-informed with what you were telling us. Good job.

Matt Nurre presentations are always exceptional, and everyone knows that. I didn't know that people back then were so gifted with their ancient technologies and able to produce films like that. I got a sense of the guys personalities but would have liked to hear any actual quotes from them.
